[B][U]Chapter 27: Not just /b/
“Why, for the love of hell does it ALWAYS has to be those two! I can’t have ONE good day at school without those two bone heads playing SOME kind of prank?!” I bellowed at Jacob.
“Are you sure it’s them?” He asked.
“Positive. The clues add up. Geremy is doing the hacking, and AJ left us the clues. It’s got to be them, there’s no other explanation for it! They’ve got to be in the basement room.” I stated assumingly. I could only guess that they were there. This carbon copy key though simply seemed to tell me that they were there! They had to be.
But, as I passed through the halls and unlocked the door to the darkened steps… I saw no light. There was no activity; just dust floating about up to my face. I carefully went down the steps, feeling around for a light switch. When I found one, I flipped it on… but was one again greeted only by sadness and misfortune.
“Crap! They aren’t here!” I yelled. “Jacob!” I beckoned.
“That’s not true… They were here.” He said to me.
“And how do you know that?” I asked.
“Because they’re watching us. Right now. ” He cringed. I turned around and looked at him. A hint of true fear hit his face. I too was scared, for when I looked where he was looking; all I could see was a pair of eyes staring back at me. I screamed loudly from fright, at the top of my lungs!
“RELAX!” Jacob called out to me. “They’re FAKE! LOOK!” He shouted. I looked and saw that he was right. They were a fake pair of gag eyes, meant to scare away any possible intruders. It was an old trick AJ and Ger used to pull on people when they went through their stuff without permission. I sighed a bit, shaking from fright.
“THAT’S creepy!” I replied to Jacob.
“Relax, they’re fake.” He stated. He walked up in front of me, and ripped the pair of eyes from the wall. But when he did, all we saw were two holes in the wall, and a darkened thing rushing past it behind the wall. Jacob gulped and yelped, as did I. I accidentally dropped the key, it falling behind the stairs where I couldn’t see it.
“Let’s just go, now. We need to get out of here while we can!” I cried. But just as he said this, the door upstairs slammed shut, and locked.
“Oh boy…” I said. This was bad, very bad.
“Tristian, give me the key.” Jacob demanded.
“I just DROPPED the key!” I replied. “I accidentally dropped it… behind the stairs.” I replied.
“How did you manage to do that?!” Jacob angrily retorted.
“I got scared and my arms flailed a bit, excuse me!” I said, a bit of a tone in my voice that suggested both fear, and impatience. “And besides, if we go back up that way someone’s going to KNOW we were down here! I’m not getting suspended the first day back!” I assured him. Just then we heard clanging.
“God damn it, would you move faster?”
“Give me a break; I only just had my coffee!”
“Man, I can’t believe that you talked me into going around like this!”
“Oh, like the time you made me go into that damn sewer with you was any better! I’m telling you, I could have taken the fuzz on myself!”
“Yeah, right.”
Jacob and I stood stunned, watching as a large vent in the wall popped open. Of course, who else would come out but AJ and Geremy.
“You two sons of bitches!” I yelled as they exited their little hidey hole. “You gave me a freaking heart attack!” I shouted.
“Tristian, calm the hell down or you’ll give me a headache.” Geremy sighed, rubbing his eyes. “What’s up Jacob?”
“Trying to figure out what the hell is going on here. You?” Jacob replied.
“Ah, no doubt. I’m just trying to get this damn dust out of my eyes. It’s a bitch, you know?” He explained. We both nodded. I couldn’t help but bring my palm to my face and sigh heavily.
“Okay, I want to know right now what’s going on!”
AJ looked at Geremy, and Geremy looked at AJ. AJ nodded, and Geremy shook his head. AJ chuckled. “Fine, I’ll tell them. Alright, so a bunch of these security guards work up at the mall, right? Well, we get told that one of them has a problem with my gun shop, and Ger’s liquor shop.” AJ explained.
“Mostly because of the fact you kept selling porn out of your shop, and storing all of the materiel behind the counter at mine.” Ger commented.
“Anyway, so this security guard was a real dick, and we found out that he works up here at the school. Dude’s an asshole. I don’t personally like him, and neither does Ger. So, since he was giving us a hard time… we thought we could return the favor.” AJ finished.
“Wait wait wait! Let me get this straight. You pissed off a security guard, who works both at the mall and this school, because you two are selling porn in your shops?” I asked.
“No, AJ is selling the porn! I’m just holding it for him.” Geremy stated, attempting to enlighten us on the subject. “Yeah, he’s one of those really religious guys who thinks porn is wrong. Guy’s a real idiot.” Geremy finished. Jacob and I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Okay, whatever! Just tell me how the hell to get back to class so me and Tristian can be on our merry way!” Jacob demanded.
“Alright, relax; relax! Follow us, and we’ll take you to the back of the school. Stay behind us and make sure to keep as quiet as possible!” AJ explained. Jacob and I nodded, and followed him and Geremy through the vent system till we reached the back of the school.
AJ and Geremy hopped out of the vent first… but things weren’t going to go as expected. With AJ and Geremy, they never did.
“HEY YOU!” We heard. Jacob and I backed ourselves up in the vents. “STOP! FREEZE!” He said. “All security! Get to the back of the school, sector 8H! We have intruders in the building! This is a code black! I repeat, this is a code BLACK!”
“Oh boy…” I thought. “Code black. Isn’t that a-? Oh boy. Lockdown!” I mumbled to Jacob. We soon heard an alarm sound, and the faint crinkle of all the blinds in the school simultaneously being shut. Very soon, at least five more security guards showed up to go after AJ and Ger. They circled around them.
“You two?! You’re getting ARRESTED AFTER THIS ONE!” We heard. It was the rather large security guard who had tried to stop me and Jacob in the hall not a few dozen minutes before.
“Oh, this is gonna be good. Five rent-a-cops coming after two suburban white kids. AJ, do you know what happens to rent-a-cops?”
“They get fucked up like regular cops?” AJ asked.
“That’d be the correct answer.”
Due to being inside of the vents, I wasn’t able to see too much of the fight. The only thing I can say on the matter is that AJ and Geremy did win. You could say that, the two suburban white kids fought like MMA masters who grew up in the tough part of the city. Needless to say, the security guards got screwed up! They were all knocked out cold on the ground.
“You two, go back the way you came, but take a left. You’ll end up in the courtyard. It’s a lockdown, so all the blinds are closed. Run and hide in the bathrooms, and come out when the lockdown is over. Don’t worry, we aren’t gonna go to jail because we didn’t do anything wrong.” AJ assured me.
“You snuck into a high school, broke a window, screwed with the security systems and announcements, and you don’t think you did anything wrong?!” Jacob shouted.
“Okay, we’re probably gonna go to jail for a bit. Don’t worry, we’ll get out real quick from there, and then probably get house arrest if we get the right lawyer. It’s all good!” AJ assured me.
“Just go before the rent-a-cops wake up.” Geremy commented.
That day was interesting to say the least. Jacob and I were able to follow AJ’s instructions and get back to class without any problems. I kind of learned something that day. You shouldn’t screw with someone who can take down the /b/. Chances are? That’s not the only thing they can take down.
