K.J.’s directions weren’t the greatest, but Tony was able to navigate his way over to her place sans incident the following afternoon. She occupied a first-floor apartment in a converted house with a screened-in porch. Her door was on the left side and limped his way up a set of short, wooden steps. His leg hurt and his face was sore when he touched it, but he’d been told nothing was broken. It could have been a lot worse. Amy, Niccoldi, and Emma were dead. John Hand was miraculously still alive, but expected to go any day now. Jackson was on leave while his shooting was being investigated and this whole mess sorted itself out. That left K.J., who was taking some vacation time, and himself, who had no idea what to do next.
