“You can have Friday night,” she told Natalie. She didn’t know what would come out of it, but at the very least she wouldn’t be terribly bored. The same could not be said of a late shift at Bledsoe’s.

Thursday found Megan in good spirits. She was practically glowing with anticipation as she told Sabrina of her plans. They had gone out for ice cream and Megan again found herself licking her fingers and making a mess like a toddler.
“Someone should get you a bib,” Sabrina joked.
You don’t know the half of it, Megan thought. Her undergarments had so far remained a secret. It was not that she was afraid to tell Sabrina per say; she just felt no burning urge to make such a confession.
“So,” Sabrina asked. “I’m a little confused here, Meg. First you say you like this guy, then you say he’s a total pig now you say you like him…but he still might be a pig?”
Megan shrugged. “It’s complicated. He’s…er…sort of hung up on girls right now.”
Sabrina chuckled. “And guys think we’re the ones with issues.”
“Yeah, well, I think he’s worth it. At least I hope he is.”
“I wish I could find one who was worth anything.”
“What about…Jeff?”
“Jeff’s OK, but it’s like we have nothing to talk about afterwards.”
“Mark?”
“We have plenty to talk about but no chemistry.”
“Ross?”
She rolled her eyes. “Eww…no.”
“Well then…”
“Yeah, maybe I’m the problem.”
Megan smiled.
“What?”
“’Rina, if there’s one thing I learned this summer, it’s that people change. A lot. So there’s hope for you yet, you little slut.”
“Oh yeah…. like you’re one to be giving advice.”
Megan was about to retort when she noticed tat ioce cream was slowly dripping down her shirt. “Eerk!” she exclaimed, trying to stop the flow with napkins.
“Yup,” Sabrina remarked. “We should get you a bib all right. A bib and a bottle.”
“Why not a diaper while you’re at it?”
“That too.”
Oh, if only you knew, Megan thought. If only you knew.

After an excruciatingly slow shift at work the following day, Megan went home, had her diaper changed and settled in for a nice, long nap. She awoke in time to join her family for dinner, but ate little and appeared distracted.
“Megan?” Nancy asked. “Something wrong.”
“Nope,” she replied. “I’m going out later.”
She had been keeping out of trouble and her parents had consequentially been keeping out of her affairs. They gave her a brief scrutinization before offering their underwhelming approval.
“Just don’t stay out too late,” Drew muttered.
“And don’t forget to call,” added Nancy.
That was the end of it. Megan saw the expressions on her siblings’ faces and knew that they were envious of the trust granted to her. She also knew that that trust only came through time and it would be quite awhile before either of them could be free to live the nightlife.
Megan showered and changed into a clean diaper. She then delved into her closet and searched frantically until she located what she considered to be her sexiest skirt and found a top to go with it. She also threw some extra clothes into a bag in case they decided to go bowling, fixed her hair, lightly applied some make up and pronounced herself ready to go.
“Hold it,” Drew said when she was nearly out the door. Megan sighed and froze.
“What’s with the extra clothes?” he asked.
“We might go bowling,” Megan explained.
“Never mind that,” said Nancy. “What is with that skirt?”
“I guess it’s been awhile since I wore it and it must have shrunk a bit,” Megan explained. She knew her parents weren’t naive enough to believe that, but it was the best she was going to give them.
“Look, I’ll be at Ted’s for most of the time…. unless we decide to go out. I’ll have my cell and I’ll be home before midnight.”
“Can you at least tell us his name?” Nancy asked.
“Ron,” Megan quickly answered and bid her parents goodbye.
