Amused by the success of these tactics, Megan leaned in and gave Deanna a great big hug. This time, she actually heard the girl scream profanities into her gag. As a piece de resistance, Megan planted a big wet kiss right on her cheek and ruffled her hair. Deanna went absolutely ballistic, flipping and flopping every which way. It made Megan smile…and she felt better because she wasn’t really hurting her.
“Wow,” Ron remarked. “Now I’m feeling left out.”
“Oh…you can kiss her too,” Megan entreated.
Ron sighed. “That wasn’t what I met,” he said quietly.
Megan suddenly felt overcome with embarrassment. Deanna had been staring hatefully at her and now Ron was giving her a strange glance as well.
“Will you…uh…excuse me for a second?” she said, escaping to the bathroom.
