Hailey Summers couldn’t take her eyes off the little girl in front of her in the checkout line.

The girl wasn’t actively doing anything wrong; she was simply clinging to her mother’s shopping cart. Hailey’s interest was piqued more by the childish innocence that this girl gave off — she looked to be about three years old, and was showing off the top of her diaper over the waist of her slightly-fallen shorts, and she either didn’t know or didn’t care. It drove Hailey mad, though; she felt that a diaper sticking out was unbearably cute. She didn’t want to be caught staring, so she pretended to be extremely interested in the two-liter bottle of Pepsi she was holding as she stole glances at the girl’s diaper.

She wouldn’t admit it to anybody, but Hailey was jealous of the girl. People would find it odd if an 11-year-old like her had an accident, but nobody would care if this girl wet or even soiled herself, except for the mother that would have to change the diaper. And me, thought Hailey. Only a weird person like me would care if somebody else’s kid used their diaper.
