That kind of a statement from nervous parents set off warning bells in Hailey’s head. Had she done something recently that she would be in trouble for? Her mind was drawing a blank, so she just acknowledged her mother with a glance and went back to eating her slice of pizza, which somehow now didn’t taste as good.
“Do you remember when your aunt Grace died a few years ago?”
“Yeah…”
“And then your uncle Frank got remarried after that, so your cousin Erin could have a mother again. I don’t know if you met her.”
