The further Erin got on her math assignment, the more it seemed like she was further from finishing. She could swear the list of problems was getting longer and longer. Mary didn’t allow her to leave the table until her homework was complete, so it looked like she’d be there for a while. Fine, Erin muttered, it’s not like I have anything better to be doing tonight anyway.
Erin’s mind accepted this easily enough, but her body begged to differ. Why now, why of all times did her body decide she needed to pee? She managed to ignore it for a little while, but it soon became harder and harder to concentrate on her problems.
She was never going to get done if she didn’t go visit the bathroom. She stood up.
“Are you finished?” demanded Mary.
“No, but I just…”
“No excuses. You’re not leaving that chair until you’re done.”
