Well, great, she’d probably just waken up Hailey. Yet again, she’d been hindered by a noisy door. If Hailey was awake, though, there wasn’t much she could do about it, so she continued to the bathroom.
Upon returning to her bedroom, she heard Hailey speak. “Erin? Did you wet your diaper?”
Erin knew it was an honest question asked out of concern. “I did, but I’ve already changed.”
“Oh. Well, if you ever want me to help you change, just let me know. I don’t mind if you wake me up to do it.”
“Thanks, but I think I can handle it.”
I wouldn’t mind Hailey changing my diaper, Erin realized, but she felt guilty for thinking it. Hailey had already done so much for her, and she wouldn’t even be able to return the favor, since Hailey was lucky enough not to need her diapers.
