It was on that night that Theodore was diapered again before being tucked up in his little bed
This time he did not argue at all with Rose.
It was now very obvious that he would have to wear these diapers at bedtime until he got over his bedwetting.
However, Theodore was finding all of these proceedings some form of comfort
He found he was enjoying the sensations of being pampered and cared for like a baby.
Rose kissed him on the forehead like she had done the previous night and Theodore pretended to sleep.
When Rose closed the door Theodore opened his eyes and reached under the pillow behind his bed.
After fumbling around for a few short moments, he managed to find the pacifier and get it up to his face.
With nervous excitement and shaking hands, Theodore took the pacifier, put its nipple into his mouth.
The nipple of the pacifier did not reach as far back into his mouth as his thumb did however, the joy he got from this act was fabulous.
Theodore closed his eyes and imagined that he had regressed back to babyhood.
He imagined that his mother was there still watching him,
Playing with him,
Feeding him,
and changing his diapers.
This was by far the happiest moment since his parents had passed away.
The medication Theodore had been given by Rose was now starting to make him feel sleepy.
Theodore fell asleep.
However, he woke up in a state of nervousness several times with the pacifier still in his mouth.
Theodore decided that it was better to play it safe.
He slippered the pacifier back into its hiding place, under the pillow, before he fell so deeply asleep that he did not wake up till the morning.
After all, Theodore really did not want to have to explain to Mrs Fields why he was sleeping with a pacifier in his mouth.
It was bad enough he had to wear diapers to bed!
When Rose came into Theodore’s bedroom the next morning she found him soundly asleep with his thumb in his mouth.
Rose had to look twice before she realized just what she was seeing.
Rose awoke Theodore like she had done the day before.
She duly removed his wet diaper before sending him off for his morning bath.
The rest of the week passed quite uneventfully.
Theodore continued to get used to having to be diapered before bedtime.
He had by now decided that he liked the security of knowing he would not wake up in wet bedclothes.
On two occasions Rose was somewhat disturbed to find that Theodore’s diapers had some brown stains on them.
However, she soon thought to herself that this could be a case of Theodore not wiping himself properly after using the bathroom.
Rose made a call to the psychiatrist later that week to ask him about Theodore’s thumbsucking.
The psychiatrist did not seem to be too concerned.
He went on to tell Rose that he would talk to Theodore in the future about his thumbsucking.
However, he stated that a minor regression behavior like this was not uncommon for someone who had been through what Theodore had been through.
He also made it very clear that the behavior Theodore was displaying was completely harmless.
The psychiatrist seemed to be more concerned with Theodore’s moon and how he had adapted to wearing diapers of a nighttime.
Rose went on the tell the psychiatrist that Theodore seemed to be happier since being given the medication that had been prescribed.
Rose continued to tell the psychiatrist that Theodore had now stopped moping around the house like he did when he first moved in
She told him that Theodore hadn’t wanted to go out and see his friends yet.
The psychiatrist advised her to be patient, that those things took time.
After another week Theodore’s body started to adjust to the antidepressant and he found it easier to stay awake in bed without falling asleep.
Theodore had taken to covering his head with the bedsheets just in case Mrs Field came into check on him.
However, she never did.
