Chapter 1

Per usual Meli was up late watching some late night MTV show. Her mother tapped on the door around 1030pm and told her to go to bed since tomorrow is Monday and she has to go to work. Meli got up and turned out the lights long enough to convince her mom that she had listened. But no sooner did she her parents bedroom door shut, she had the tv back on and was enjoying her usual late night programs. She felt that since she was 19 that she shouldn’t have to do anything her mother said, she was an adult after all! The next morning Nancy, Meli’s mom, knocked on her door and told her to hurry because she was late again for work! She stumbled out of bed and threw on her work clothes, brushed her hair and teeth and rushed downstairs, running late per usual. Her mom yelled at her and told her that this had to stop. I know you turned the tv back on last night again after I told you to go to sleep. If you feel that you are old enough to do whatever you want then maybe it is time to move out. Meli scoffed at this and told her mom that she would never do that to her because she was her only child. Nancy, said maybe not but there are other alternatives I can consider. With this Meli left for the day and Nancy started to think about what to do with the situation. Of course she found a solution… It would work out in the best interest of everyone involved.

Chapter 2

Nancy looked through the ads in the paper and came across one for a clinical trial regarding troublesome children. “Do you have problems with your kids?” “Are you tired of having to beg them to listen?” “Do they feel they can do whatever they want?” We can help! Whatever the problem, we can help you get it all ‘under control.’ Just call 555-2121 and start over again. Nancy laughed while she was dialing the number, hoping that this would solve the issues at hand. Frank the store manager answers the phone and after listening to Nancy’s story, had the perfect solution. He told her to hurry over to the store and Nancy did just that. At the store they discussed the issue with Meli a little more and Frank told Nancy that the best way to fix her problem was to use the very thing that Meli enjoyed the most… against her! A specialty tv, as Frank called it, would only cost $1500.00 and then everything would work out just fine. Nancy signed the payment agreement, without reading it, and took the tv home to hook up in Meli’s room. Frank stood smiling to himself as she walked out the door. Another satisfied customer. You know they say when the customers happy so is the seller. Everyone gets exactly what they want.

Chapter 3

That afternoon Nancy was cooking dinner and talking to Hunter, Meli’s father. Nancy had explained pretty much everything to him so that he would understand what was going to happen. Hunter agreed and seemed ready to go along with the plan. Meli  walked in not much later than that and they all sat down to dinner. While eating, the conversation varied from topic to topic. Then the dishes were done and everyone went to relax for the evening. Meli, of course went up to her room, she wasn’t much for the family togetherness thing. In her room, Meli took off her clothes and threw on an over sized t shirt. She wasn’t that big to begin with so the shirt was probably something you would find in the juniors section at Wal-mart. Plopping down on the bed, remote in hand, Meli laid back on her bed and turned on her favorite show from when she was only 16… Buffy the Vampire Slayer! As she watched her heroine battle the forces of darkness something strange started to happen… The tv started to glow. Meli didn’t even notice because the show that she was watching was sending out hypnotic radio waves that was keeping her totally engulfed in what she saw. At the same time the glow from the tv surrounded the room including Meli. A change started to occur in everything the glow touched. Things started to fall backwards in time. The family pictures on the wall changed to posters of teen groups like Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears. The paint on the walls changed to an lite purple as if to reflect the style of , guess what… a 16 year old! Her bed changed to a canopy bed with pink sheets and a desk appeared out of nowhere so that the teenager could have a place to do her homework. It was almost as if everything was trying to become in sync with the tv show itself. The hypnotic waves kept Meli engulfed in the show while all this happened but at the same time they were doing something else too. Things were being erased from her mind as she watched. Memories, knowledge, people she had met after she turned 16, things as small as some guy she had talked to at work that she liked when she was 19 to things as big as her high school graduation when she was 18! As she lost the memories and knowledge, she also lost age, her shirt started to get bigger than it already was and her underwear loosened around her waist. Her hair grew long again, no longer was it the short smart looking cut she had gotten last week. The deep brown color she had dyed it fell away and a lighter blonder color replaced it. Braces appeared on her teeth and inches fell from her height. All around she was regressing to an earlier age as she watched what used to be and now really was her favorite show. As the glow faded, Meli thought how happy she was that her mom had gotten her a tv for her room for her 16th birthday! Downstairs, Nancy and Hunter smiled at the thought of what had to be going on upstairs. Just think, how easy it was to solve the issue with their daughter! But it wasn’t over yet…

Chapter 4

Buffy was almost over and just like the show starts in one place and ends in another, so had Andrea. At the beginning of the show Meli was a beautiful 19 year old girl with a slight problem. Well it really wasn’t a slight problem was it? The girl was downright rude and disrespectful. But now she was at the end of the show and Buffy had saved the day and solved her problem; Meli  on the other hand didn’t even realize that she had one. The fresh faced newly 16 year old girl sat at her desk giggling to herself with thoughts that tomorrow she had to go to school and that boy, Jason Mark, was going to ask her out to spring fling! Buffy was over and Meli started to roam the channels again, stopping at a channel that normally she wouldn’t be caught dead on. Disney channel may be popular for girls that were only 12 years old but she is 16 and there was no way this was interesting at all, right? If that was so why couldn’t she force herself to change the channel? Hannah Montana had just started. Meli who two minutes ago was sitting at her desk giggling was now lying on her stomach with her head in her hands watching with great interest a show that was popular for the tween crowd. As Hannah sang her song, ‘The other side of me’ once again the room was engulfed in a glow from the tv. Only this time it was even brighter. What once was a room belonging to a 16 year old girl on the verge of getting her drivers license, was now transforming into a whole different place. Her posters changed to the cast of high school musical, the bedsheets were Hannah and she had a bulletin board appear on the back of her door with bunches of pictures of friends and notes from them as well. A frilly pink rug appeared on the floor and the curtains even changed white with a flower pattern! Meli’s who was still not phased by the any of the changes taking place, lay on her bed happily watching Hannah. But before the changes could take hold on her she fell asleep on her bed. Not too long after she had fallen asleep, Nancy gently knocked on the bedroom door, not hearing anything she entered. Even though she knew what had been happening, it was still a shock to her to see what had actually taken place. After looking over Meli’s new room, Nancy walked over to her sleeping daughter and tucked her into her bed. She kissed her on the forehead and walked out of the room thinking that maybe just maybe she would finally get the daughter she had always hoped for. The problem with this scenario is that Meli fell asleep before the tv’s magical glow could change her to match the tv shows ‘age.’  Could this be a problem come tomorrow?

Chapter 5

A beautiful Saturday morning began as the sun’s light poured through Meli’s bedroom window. The young lady tossed and turned in her bed. As she opened her eyes she felt a bit confused. Looking around the room, it wasn’t quite as she remembered it. The 16 year old threw her covers off and sat up on the edge of her bed, looking around as a sense of fear overtook her. Where was she!? How had she gotten here?! This definitely wasn’t the room she had fallen asleep in last night. Yet it seemed strangely familiar at the same time. She remembered turning on the tv in her old room and roaming through until she settled on watching…  Hannah Montana?  Something weird was going on. Meli ran out the door and down the stairs into the kitchen. There she found her mom and dad sitting down to breakfast. Nancy looked up and greeted what she thought to be her 16 year old daughter by the looks of her. What she didn’t know was that Meli should have been only 12 but the regression wasn’t complete due to her falling asleep. The tv could only affect an active mind and body. When she fell asleep her body wasnt changed and her mind not altered, leaving her with a 16 year old daughter in a 12 year olds room! Meli screamed that there was something wrong in her room, everything was replaced by kiddie things! She thought it was a joke pulled by her parents and she yelled at them so loud the whole neighborhood might as well have heard. Nancy calmly walked over to the refrigerator and pulled out a small bottle and syringe. She walked behind Andrea and bent over… Meli was still screaming about how this was a cruel joke and paid no attention to what was happening behind her. She just wanted everything back to normal this very instant! Just as Meli was about to scream her next sentence she jumped in the air and screamed in pain! Something had pricked her. She spun around to face her mom who was kneeling down on the floor. Nancy looked up and apologized. Mr Sweetz, the family pet had scratched Meli while Nancy was trying to give him his hairball medicine. This set Meli off on another tangent. Apparently the regression had had no effect on her rudeness. She was still as disrespectful now as she had been at the age of 19. No problem though, the tv could solve this if they could just get her back in front of it. Meli sat down at the table as Hunter brought her some toast with jelly. After a few bites she put it down and got up to go get a drink. Hunter came up to the sink just as Meli seemingly fainted. He caught her and picked her up, smiling at Nancy. You could tell this was a team effort because Hunter, right before he served it, sprinkled a fast acting drug onto the toast to make Meli pass out. Happy with the results, Hunter carried Meli up to her room, Nancy following close behind. They tucked her into bed and then turned on the tv! Hunter and Nancy without looking at the tv themselves, hurried from the room. While Meli slept the tv played a station that didnt cater to the tween audience anymore. No this station catered to a much younger level of intelligence. The station in question… Toon Disney! Sure enough, the glow illuminated from the tv and the room began to change………

Chapter 6

In a small room with pink walls, a young girl slept. Looking around this room you could tell that she was very much a princess. Her doll house was set up in the corner and next to it was a small round table where Ms. Bunny and Mr. Bear sat. They appeared to be having tea and eating cookies off of small porcelain plates. On the other side of the room was a bookshelf with dainty items that young girls enjoy such as porcelain dolls and jewelry boxes. Next to it sat a rather large chest decorated in pinks and purples with what looked to be children’s costume jewelry and dress up clothes spilling over the sides. On the wall was a mural of a ballerina and below it was the dresser where the tv was on waiting to be watched. But right in the middle of the room was the bed with a pink frilly canopy and a girl that was sound asleep. But it wasnt a young girl. The girl that belonged in this room would be maybe 8 years old at most. No this wasnt her, for she had the body of at least a 16 year old. But it was her. As she began to stir, the first thing to be heard was the sound of the tv. Meli moaned a bit and rolled over in bed.  The 16 year old heard what sounded like a Saturday morning cartoon. What it was actually, was the little mermaid singing. The thought of this show was absurd to her. So she stretched and yawned and started to get out of bed to go turn off the tv and take a shower. Not even noticing the surroundings she reached for the off button; but before she reached it she made one mistake… She looked at Ariel. It only took one glance and she was hooked, her hand dropped to her side and she couldn’t look away. The glow started but this time it only enveloped Meli. The change was drastic. What was a 16 year old girl shrank in height fast. The long hair shortened once again and baby fat started to fill out what had been a slender frame. Meli’s nightshirt fell off her shoulders and her underwear went down to sit around her ankles. As she watched Ariel sing, ‘Under the Sea’ Meli smiled. Upon closer look, as she smiled, you could see that this little girl was just starting to get in a few permanent teeth. She had the two telltale ones missing though, her two top teeth. Yes, now you could see this was no longer a independent 16 year old but a little girl, no older than 7. And just like her baby teeth had fallen out, so had a lot of memories, knowledge and what not fallen from her mind. Meli would no longer be able to tell you what the scientific tables in biology were or where Africa was on a map. This was stuff she would have to learn again in time. For now, this was a little girl who was her Mommy and Daddy’s big girl. As the glow faded, Ariel kissed Prince Eric and they began their fairy tail life together. Meli turned around and picked up Ms. Bunny. Thats my favorite movie she told her stuffed animal. Nancy came into her daughters room without knocking and surprised Andrea with a hug. The little girl, not knowing that anything was any different jumped happily into her mommy’s arms, relishing the love she was getting. Nancy asked Meli if she was having fun watching her show and playing in her room. Of course Meli just laughed and told her mommy how much she loved Ariel and that she wanted to be a princess just like her one day. Nancy just smiled and thought to herself, just a little further and you will be all over again. Hunter came into the room and saw the changes, he was overjoyed at the thought that this was all working out so well. He put come cookies and milk on Meli’s little table by Mr. Bear, gave them both a hug and said he had to go to work. Before leaving the room, Hunter and Nancy put a movie in the dvd player.  Nancy told Meli to push play on it when she was ready to watch it. It didn’t take to long after they left the room that Meli made her way over and pushed play. Without looking at the tv she went to sit down with her snack. While she walked away the theme song started to play… Dora, Dora, Dora the explorer..

Chapter 7

With a thumb planted in her little mouth, a 3 year old Meli sat happily watching Dora and her best friend Boots. They were on their way to the Tallest mountain. Meli was on her way to diapers. Neither had much farther to go. Both Dora and Meli had gone on an adventure and each was taking them through different places. Dora was had traveled to different parts of the world and Meli had traveled to different parts of her past life. The most recent traveling being from a 7 year old to now just a little 3 year old girl. It was a fast journey though, taken in a lot less time than Dora’s 30 minute journey. She had turned on the dvd player and walked away. Upon hearing Dora’s song, the 7 year old Meli had thought she hit the wrong button. Turning around she went to turn the channel. Meli hadn’t even really looked at the tv but instead had glanced into the mirror on one of the walls in her room. Sure enough, the reflection of the tv show appeared in the mirror. It still had the same effect. Just this time she watched the tv’s reflection. Also in that mirror’s reflection stood a young girl of 7 and as she stood there watching the reflection of Dora, the tv glowed. It glowed so brightly that the mirror reflected a  shine that blinded Meli. Even though she was so engaged in watching the tv show, she brought her hand to her eyes to block the shine. In doing so she also blocked the hypnotic waves from the tv that held her captive. Suddenly the regression stopped for a moment in Meli’s  body. But it didn’t stop the room from changing. 7 year old Meli watched as the room started to change. The bed disappeared and was replaced by a crib with pretty little princesses on the bed covers. A small pink diaper pail with white lining sat next to the crib. On another side of the room a changing table sat where the toy box used to be. On the side of it hung a bag filled with baby necessities such as diapers, creams and baby wipes. All the big girl toys in the room were gone and replaced with baby ones. There home was a plastic toy box sitting next to a rocking chair that wasn’t there before. Meli was getting scared and started to cry. To her it was like a nightmare! She backed up into her new little dresser and plopped down on her butt. Looking up above her she saw the tv was still on. Then it only took a second and now the girl sitting on the floor was a shell of her former self. A cute toddler  now sat on the floor with short curly blonde pigtails in her hair. The 7 year old had lost what was left of her little girl looks. Meli had the sweetest dimples that were only succeeded in cuteness by her adorable little smile. This 3 year old had a chubby tummy with an inny belly button covered just barely by her Dora Pull ups. She stood no higher than 41 inches, if that. Her tiny pink tee shirt had a picture of Boots on it dancing around with Dora and that too, barely covered her chubby little tummy. Baby fat was apparent all over Meli, so much so in her hands that it made it difficult to wrap them around anything anymore. Meli picked up her sippy cup with both hands and drank it down, then dropped it to the floor next to another object she wanted very much! Her binky!! The toddler picked up her favorite pink binky and popped it in her mouth then from behind that binky, she giggled, amused with herself. As if she had just learned to do so, Meli put her hands down on the floor to push herself into a standing position. Unsteadily she sorta half waddled, half walked over to the rocking chair. Trying to climb up, little Meli slipped and fell over on her bottom causing the 3 year old to cry out, her binky fell from her mouth. At the same time she wet her pull up because she was unable to hold it in as she cried. Over on the shelf of the changing table sat a small baby monitor that had appeared during the rooms most recent change. Downstairs Nancy heard the cry and ran upstairs. Opening the door she saw little Meli on the floor crying. Picking her she hugged the toddler to her chest consoling her as she wiped the little tears out of her eyes. Sitting down in the rocking chair with her little girl, she rocked and hummed to Meli. The 3 year old started to drift off to sleep so Nancy placed her in the crib. Meli, who had seemed happy to be in her mommy’s arms, woke up as Nancy left the room to go warm up a bottle. Meli sat up in her crib and put her thumb in her mouth,  watching Dora and Boots finish their journey to the tallest mountain. Little Meli wondered whats on after Dora?

Chapter 8

As Meli played with her dolly in her crib, the dvd player stopped and shut itself off. The toddler looked up at the tv just as her mommy walked back in. Nancy came over and took her out of the crib then laid her down on the floor. She handed the little girl her bottle and walked over to get a clean pull up. Also grabbing some baby powder and wipes. She kneeled down next to her daughter who was playing with the nipple of the bottle and smiling. Looking up at Nancy, little Meli said the first thing since her regression had started. “I lub you Mommy.” Nancy started to cry. She was overwhelmed with love for her daughter but also by the overbearing guilt of what she had done. She smiled down at Meli and told her the same back. She gave her kisses on the cheeks and forehead. After doing that she picked her up and hugged her tightly to her chest. Meli didn’t know her mommy was upset so she just hugged her back. Laying her back down on the floor, Nancy undid the pull up. She took a baby wipe and gingerly wiped her clean. Afterwards she applied some baby powder which filled the room with a very sweet aroma. Pulling the pull up up  her little one’s legs and making sure it snugly fit, she picked up the chubby little girl and sat down with her in the rocking chair. They picked up the book sitting next to the chair and read, “Good night moon.” Nancy and her toddler daughter looked through the colorful pages of the book. When they reached the last one Nancy looked down and read, “Goodnight everyone.” The adorable little one was fast asleep in her arms so Nancy gently picked her up, walked over and put her down in her crib. The little girl rolled over and put her thumb in her mouth, gently sucking on it as she would her paci. Nancy smiled a bittersweet smile. Although she was happy to have her daughter back; the way she had gone about it seemed a bit wrong now that she looked back. She promised that she would never use the power of the tv again. Tomorrow she would take it back to the store and use the money from it to buy everything Little Meli would ever want. She pulled up the railing on the crib, locking it into place, then turned to walk out of the room. Later that night Meli woke up as most little ones her age tend to do. She had enough light from her night light to see in her crib. As she played in her crib she came across a hard object. At first it would have appeared to be a toy. Upon closer look you could clearly see that it was the remote! The little girl started to laugh as she played with the big buttons on what she thought was a toy. Then the one thing that shouldn’t have happened… did. The tv flipped on. The image turned from black to a vividly colorful image. Meli looked up and was mesmerized instantly. Down the hall in another room Nancy and Hunter were sleeping. The baby monitor next to the bed started to buzz with sound. Hunter was the first to stir from his sleep. He poked Nancy in the back and told her that Meli was awake. Hunter went to the bathroom while Nancy shook the sleep off so she could go to Meli’s room. All the sudden she realized what she was hearing on the monitor, Baby Einsteins! She knew what was happening in the room, she got up in a rush and ran down the hall. On the other side of the door, was a little girl going through what would be the last changes before starting over her life. Meli stared at the tv and fluttered her long eye lashes. Baby fat formed under skin making her appear much younger than 3 years old.18 months maybe? No even younger, she was now barely 6 months. As the changes became more apparent, her features regressed further. The baby girl lost her balance and fell on her bottom but she didn’t cry out because she now had padding to protect her fall. A white fluffy diaper now encircled her small chubby body. Her hair was just long  enough that it had two very small pigtails that sat on top of her head. A pink onsie then appeared overtop of Andrea’ s little chubby tummy coming down over her diaper and snapping in the crotch. On  the onsie a clip formed with a string attached to a pink pacifier. The pink pacifier was instantly in her mouth and suckled upon. Baby Einsteins came to an end and the tv faded to black again. The sweet baby girl was finally finished with her regression and could now look forward to a long life of love and adoration from her family. Maybe this time around would be different than before. But Nancy was on the other side of that door heading down the hallway in a rush to get to her daughter. She knew what was happening but maybe she could stop it before it went to far.
