“Emma,” Tony said softly. “Emma, listen to me. We know the truth. I heard it from the widow Valence herself. Simon never touched you. It was all a tragic misunderstanding. And there’s no one around to contradict that. Amy’s dead. Niccoldi’s dead. Your father is dying. We know and we can tell the truth. Set the record straight. But you have to let us live.”
Emma looked at him with moist, frightened eyes and withdrew the razor from K.J.’s neck.
“You really believe me,” she said, astonished.
“Sure do,” Tony replied, just before he made his move.
