Anita helped him dress in a pair of overalls with suspenders over a kelly green T-shirt and made him wear his sandals. Then she packed some sandwiches, a bag of Fritos and some soft drinks, then they trooped out to the Suburban. Anita boosted him in the passenger seat and drove out to the city park. After driving around looking for a suitable picnic spot for a few minutes, they located an empty picnic table and parked the van. Anita took the paper bag she had packed with their lunch and helped Howard down from the front seat to the hot macadam. She took his hand and they walked together over to the picnic table and sat down for lunch in a tree shaded bower.
