Jessica smiled and kissed her sister before hopping off her bed and running down the hall to tell her friends who had slept over the night before.
She didn’t have much time to dress or eat since the girls were all hurrying her.
She threw on a sundress combed her hair and managed to grab a banana before she was pushed out the door.
She joined the 6-year-olds in holding hands and skipping down the sidewalk to the park.
Once there, Kelly sat on a bench to watch while the little girls scattered across the vast playground.
She soon heard crying,
followed by the firm,
yet soft voice of a mother,
“Andrea….How could this happen again?
You’re a big girl….
I’m sorry,
but I don’t treat my children differently.
You have the same punishment
I give your little sister when she does this.”
