“I used to be able to trust you a whole lot more,” Drew began. “We both did. But…. after hearing that you were attacked, we started to worry a whole lot more as well.”
“We weren’t wondering when you’d come home,” said Nancy. “But if you’d come home at all.”
Megan giggled. She couldn’t help herself. Her parents were being ridiculously melodramatic and it was hilarious. She tried to empathize with them for a moment, tried to imagine their worry and concern. And while she captured but a mere fraction of it, it was enough to make her feel guilty.
