“Meg, I’ve had perfectly nice people tell me I’m going to hell.”
“Oh,” she replied sourly. “Well…do a lot of people know?”
“My parents aren’t happy about it, but they don’t try to get in my way. My grandparents don’t even talk to me anymore. A few of the people around here found out…they give me shit about it. One of them threw a rock through my window.”
“Assholes,” Megan remarked.
“When I met Jamie, she was so scared. She’d been set up before. Girls would pretend to be interested in her…just to get close enough to kick her ass.”
Megan couldn’t help but thinking about Deanna. It made her stomach sink. “Well, I hope you know that I’m OK with it and I’d never do anything like that.
