Megan shook her head. “I’m not sure I do either.”
“But at least you listen instead of yelling. If Mom was like that then maybe I wouldn’t do half the things that I do.”
“What do you mean?”
“I like to try new things,” Carrie reiterated. “I’m curious like that. And when I can’t try, can’t find out, can’t even freakin TALK about it, it makes me upset. It also makes me want to try them more. Now that I think about it, I probably AM too young to be wanting to get into whips and chains. But when Mom and Dad told me I couldn’t, I felt like I had to.”
Megan smiled. “Welcome to being a teenager.”
“See?” Carrie replied. “I told you. You understand.”
