“What the hell do you fruitcakes want with me?” she asked. Ron’s manhandling had caused her to halt her physical retaliation for the time being, but her tongue was plenty sharp.
“Shutup,” Megan hissed.
“Ted?” Anna asked, hesitation rising in her voice. “What ARE we doing with her?”
“We’re just going to have a little talk,” he answered blankly. Deanna chuckled.
The ride back to Ted’s place was tension filled and silent. Ron and Megan had their eyes on Deanna the whole time, watching and praying she didn’t make any stupid sudden movements. Fortunately for them, she remained still. Megan was still far from trusting her. There was a conniving glow about her eyes. She was to Meg a poisonous snake to be handled with caution.
“Oh shit!” Ted exclaimed. “My parents are home.”
“Boo hoo,” Deanna taunted. “Cry me a river.”
“Why is that a problem?” Anna asked. “We’re just going to talk to her, right?”
