In her heart, though, she knew that she couldn’t lie to Erin’s face. Sure, she had hidden the whole truth from Erin before, but she felt guilty about that, and a deliberate lie was an even worse transgression. She’d been caught, and she would just have to hope that Erin would forgive her. She began to speak.
“Erin, what I’m about to tell you… promise you won’t tell anyone, okay?”
