She’d trusted that Hailey’s intentions were simply to help her, and all this time, Hailey had only been helping herself. Erin couldn’t be mad at Hailey; she was simply acting the same way everybody else on the planet acted. It was my fault. I was stupid enough to believe someone liked me. Why would she like me? I move into her house, take half her bedroom, and take her parents’ attention. She has no reason to want to do anything nice for me!
Erin didn’t cry, but she felt very empty.
Erin looked up as Hailey reentered the bedroom. “You told me before you were wearing the diapers at night for my sake!”
