The girls and their guardian rode the ship again, followed by a number of other thrill rides. Erin was still very much afraid as she boarded each ride, but every time the excitement was more than enough to make the fear worth it, and soon enough she seemed like she’d been riding these attractions all her life.
She still wasn’t entirely comfortable with the large number of people in every direction she looked, but she was getting used to the crowd, and it was really more of an annoyance now. She’d much rather there be fewer people present, but she could deal with the numbers there were.
By this time, morning had changed to afternoon, and Hailey started complaining of hunger. They stopped at a nearby grill to get some lunch.
“So, what does my birthday girl want?” asked Martin.
Hailey stared at the menu board for a while, and glanced around at what the other patrons were eating. “Those chili dogs look good.”
“I think I’ll have one too,” said Martin. “How about you, Erin?”
The menu board was difficult for Erin to read without her glasses on, but Hailey’s choice seemed a reasonable one. “Chili dogs are fine.”
