But Hailey didn’t even really see the point in trying to hide what she was doing. If she was using the toilet and somebody else knew, so what? It was something everybody does, so Hailey saw no need to be embarrassed or secretive about it. But since Emily was so ashamed of her bodily functions, Hailey found great joy in making sure that Emily knew every time that Hailey visited the bathroom. She’d once told Emily that she felt “ten pounds lighter” after a bowel movement, and it was all that she could do to keep from laughing when she saw the look on Emily’s face.
As fun as it was to embarrass Emily, though, she was incapable of doing it often enough to overcome the sheer boredom that the rest of the time spent with her entailed.
