She couldn’t believe that she had been considering seriously the possibility of having such a public accident. If her parents found out… Actually, she doubted she would be in trouble for having an accident. At the worst, her parents would probably have her do the laundry for her dirty shorts and panties. But she was almost twelve now, and pooping your pants was something you did when you were a toddler, definitely not something you did when you were Hailey’s age. She didn’t want to be treated like a kid anymore; a fact that she had been making well-known to her parents. And they seemed to be listening. For the most part, they’d been making efforts to treat her more like an adult: including her in more of their conversations, trusting her to run errands like this trip to the store, and so on. If they caught her acting like a toddler by having accidents, she would have shown them to be wrong for believing she wasn’t a kid anymore, and they probably would treat her like a kid again. No, she couldn’t really have accidents for fear of disappointing her parents, but she really wished that accidents weren’t just a kid thing. Why should kids have all the fun?
