Aunt Sue had placed her arm around Erin’s shoulder; Erin had momentarily resisted it, but soon allowed it, and now she was leaning against her aunt.
Erin’s bladder shocked her out of her grief for a moment. She vaguely recalled feeling the need to pee earlier, but she’d suppressed it, not wanting to bother her relatives to get up so she could get out of the seat. Now, however, she couldn’t ignore it any longer; her body was going to pee whether she wanted it to or not, and she wanted to be on a toilet when that happened. The thought of asking her aunt and uncle to move out of her way made her stomach hurt, but she suspected that they would be madder at her for peeing all over herself than they would be for having to move so she could visit the toilet.
