Hailey bounded upstairs as quickly as she could without actually running; only little kids would run indoors, but she supposed there was nothing wrong with an adult hurrying.

She entered her bedroom to find her cousin unpacking a duffel bag into the empty set of dresser drawers. The first thing that she noticed was Erin’s hair: jet black and perfectly straight. It surrounded a face adorned with thin glasses; thin enough that Erin’s vision couldn’t be that bad without them. Her face wouldn’t exactly qualify as beautiful, but the glasses and hair worked well with her features. The rest of her appearance was horribly average; she was about the same size as Hailey, and proportioned similarly to Hailey as well, neither overweight nor skinny. Her cousin glanced up momentarily upon hearing her enter the room, but did not speak, so Hailey broke the silence.
