N.B. “Reasonable chastisment” is not considered abuse, if your opinion it is then thats up to you, however they are recognised as complete different things by our legal system.

My guess is that BobT in using words like “traumatised”, “intimidation” and “abuse” is talking about his own experience which, while not uncommon, is certainly not typical. As mentioned, in the discussions on the subject that I’ve had, most men have expressed the view that receiving cp at school did them good. The exceptions have been when they have felt that the punishments were a) excessive and/or b) undeserved.
