Corporal punishment survey
Hi, I don’t know if this forum can help, but I’m trying to put together some realistic data regarding the use of corporal punishment in schools.
Reading this and other internet sources of information it is clearly very hard to distinguish between genuine accounts of CP, peoples fantasies, and role play.
School punishment books are difficult to find, or access. When they are available they only show the information that the establishments wished to disclose. They also only reflect official punishments, generally administered by the Head, consequentially they are not very representative of the general use of CP within schools.
If I study references in the media, the reports are generally only written when the incident was questionably outside the law. In England where I live, and indeed went to school, corporal punishment was legally practiced up until 1986. Therefore there would be no reason for the media to cover anything except the unusual.
Many of us however have witnessed (often first hand) the use of corporal punishment at school. If you have (as indeed have I) I’d be very grateful if you’d reply to this post giving as much accurate information as you feel comfortable with. However to keep this thread out of the realm of fantasy, I’d ask that you only post facts, and leave the creative writing and long discussions to other forums.
The information I’d love you to provide is the following:
About You:
Gender:
Approximate age when punished:
Approximate year of punishment:
Crime committed or alleged:
About the punishment
Administered by Head, or Staff member:
Gender of staff member:
Location punished (Classroom, Office, Hallway etc):
Type of punishment (Cane,Slipper,Paddle etc):
Number of strokes:
Applied to (Hand, Bottom, Legs etc):
Position adopted (Standing, Bending over Chair, Desk etc):
State of dress (Over Trousers/Skirt, panties, bare etc):
Privacy (In private, In front of Class, With another teacher etc):
About the school
Name of School:
Town:
Country:
Effectiveness
Were you ever punished again for the same offence?:
Do you consider the punishment effective?:
Any other relevant info:
Many thanks for your participation. I will reply to this post myself with the details of the CP I received.
Note: I see no reason why schools should not be named as they were operating completely within the law.
Hi PeteL1951,
Thanks for posting details of all your encounters with the cane at school.
You were certainly caned a lot! Was the cane the only method of corporal punishment at your school? I’m wondering because some of the offences you were caned for seem to have been relatively minor ones (e.g. being cheeky to the teacher, talking and passing a note in class), which would have earned a quick slippering at my boys-only grammar school in the 60’s.
Three of your canings were given by class or form teachers, so it sounds like any of the teachers could use the cane – was that the case? Did every teacher have their own cane?
I was curious as to why you had to drop your trousers to be caned over your underpants in one case, whereas all your other canings at your grammar school were administered in the usual way over your trousers.

Hello Keith,
I got caned 6 times at Grammar School which was not a lot really. My school did not have slippering. It was either lines (very rarely unless it was for a whole class), detention or the cane. Although some of the offences sound minor, such as cheeking a teacher, the school took any disruption in class seriously. And I was certainly cheeky to that teacher!!
All teachers could use the cane and each room had at least one cane in the store cupboard and a punishment book so all teachers had access to them.
Regarding the dropping of trousers, this appears to have been unique to the senior mistress. She always caned girls over one item of clothing and seemed to follow this rule with the boys. All the other teachers caned over trousers.
Hopefully this has answered your questions. If not feel free to ask again.
Pete

Hi Pete,
Thanks for your response.
It’s interesting that the senior mistress had a rule that girls would be caned over just one layer of clothing. Do you know why she insisted on that? Was it just so that there would be less protection, so that the punishment would be more severe? Or was it because a skirt obscures the target area too much and, in particular, makes it difficult to direct strokes to the sensitive lower part of the bottom (the “sit-spot”)?
Did you find that the cane hurt significantly more over underpants than over trousers?

Hello Keith,
I am sorry but I can not answer that question. It was never explained to me and I was certainly too frightened to ask the senior mistress.
It was unique to her and presumably related to the fact she caned the girls but some other lady teachers caned girls over their skirts. Most of the girls wore very tight skirts anyway.

Apprehension, churning stomach, trembling legs and all was the norm before a caning. Also the norm was my reaction straight after. I straightened up like a jack in the box and clutched my backside as hard as I possibly could with both hands. This was always the instinctive and automatic reaction. The pain was so frightful you try to grab hold of it and tear it away,to no avail. Now a few boys could take their canings without any tears but I wasn’t one of them .

I can understand that all that apprehension, churning stomach, trembling legs and all may have caused some distress at the time, and subsequently hindered your recollection of events. However clarification may be in order, as possibly you are eligible to join the small elite group of male contributors here who as schoolboys were caned by female academic staff and who are thus greatly envied by another small elite group of male contributors who regret that they were not!
Seriously, I don’t think I’ve seen your pseudonym before so if the above is indeed your first contribution here may I please say a personal welcome to the Forum. I hope that you will let us have details of any further SCP that you experienced and that you also find other threads to be of interest.</div>

I remember the swats stinging a little and feeling a little sore after but not that bad, it was more that this was my first time getting a paddling at school. My parents spanked so I was no stranger to corporal punishment. I was given a discipline referral to take home informing my parents I’d been paddled and remember worrying if this was going to mean a spanking at home from dad that evening but other than my parents expressing approval that the school had dealt with me appropriately and I’d gotten the punishment I deserved that was the end of the matter.
I got paddled a few other times at school and will try and respond later about those.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for your post, and I’m sure many of us will be looking forward to seeing details of your subsequent paddlings.
Can I ask you in which state you were at school?
Incidentally, just in case some of our UK contributors fail to realise this, can I point out that “pants” in the US means “trousers” to us Brits! One of many instances where, to quote Winston Churchill, we are “two countries divided by a common language”.
