Reading this and other internet sources of information it is clearly very hard to distinguish between genuine accounts of CP, peoples fantasies, and role play.
School punishment books are difficult to find, or access. When they are available they only show the information that the establishments wished to disclose. They also only reflect official punishments, generally administered by the Head, consequentially they are not very representative of the general use of CP within schools.
If I study references in the media, the reports are generally only written when the incident was questionably outside the law. In England where I live, and indeed went to school, corporal punishment was legally practiced up until 1986. Therefore there would be no reason for the media to cover anything except the unusual.

Wagging is a term used for truancy and wagging meant you either took the full day off or a portion of the day off. The school intended to have morning and afternoon roll-call to catch waggers but waggers would simply report back to school to have their name marked off at the end of the day. The deputy headmaster held his cane quite high before bringing it down onto my hands and it was probably the most painful caning I had. I was the second boy caned in the line of three boys waiting to be caned. This caning was the first time I recognised my fetish as I had butterflies but was also kind of excited at my predicament.

I agree with you but I think caning boys on the hand is a very bad idea too. 
I hadn’t heard of such an injury before but I did think there was a theoretical risk of injury. There have been quite a lot of posts discussing this issue, including the thread here.

No, she probably thought that was enough. Unfortunately, she was wrong – I still smoke. 
It wasn’t my third offence of smoking either, it was only the third time I was caught. Most of the time I wasn’t.
It was an attempt to prevent a friendly discussion developing into something far more serious. (No, the AHM didn’t believe that either.) Knicker flashing was very common too and it wasn’t that uncommon for boys and girls to compare marks after being caned or slippered. [insert preferred deity] only knows what we’d have got if we’d been caught doing that!

When I defended myself against them – it got physical – one of the younger girls ran off and told the teacher I’d hit her for no reason – and her friends backed up her story. The Grade 6 teacher who normally punished boys believed me and refused to give me the strap, so the Grade 5 teacher (who punished girls) decided to punish me herself.

This type of punishment was fairly common and I can’t really remember everytime I got it, but I do remember this first one. Some teachers didn’t smack all that hard, this one, a middle aged teacher always gave five solid whacks and if she didn’t get the reaction she wanted (basically tears), would give another five even harder ones. Ten seemed to be the maximum allowed – at least she always stopped there as far as I know. Most boys learned to give her the reaction she was after, some (stupidly in my opinion, although opinions did differ) considered it a point of honour to tough it out. Once students got older (after about the age of 13) she didn’t put them over her lap though – then you had to put your hands on your knees facing the blackboard – sometimes it felt like she was trying to put you through the wall. This teacher also used to annoy us in the junior years by having no respect for our privacy or modesty – she coached junior swimming and she would come into the change rooms and even the showers and she honestly couldn’t seem to understand why we didn’t like this. I’m making her sound like some sort of witch – she wasn’t. She was actually a really nice, really respected teacher, she just expected her rules to be obeyed and if they weren’t, she punished. She was also the first teacher to sit down and talk to a boy who seemed upset, and in my early years at the school when I had no real friends and was quite often ostracised, I, for one, really valued that.

Reinforced my belief that while the cane wasn’t that pleasant, it wasn’t that bad. I didn’t know it at the time, but he went easy on us – luckily as only about half of us deserved it. I probably did, but every boy in the shower was deemed guilty.

Any other relevant info: He had me bang to rights. I hadn’t studied but I remember I did think it was very unfair at the time as I’d still got one of the highest marks in the class. In retrospect my feelings on this one are mixed. Yes, it was good for me to learn (as a gifted child) that I was expected to do my best just as other kids were, and it didn’t matter that my best was better than other peoples but at the same time, it wasn’t my fault that the work was too easy for me to see much value in studying and except for accelerating me, nothing else was being done to address that. Personally, teaching gifted kids, I do think that should be expected to do their best, and face punishment if they are consistently not doing so, but I also think there’s a duty on the part of their teachers to make sure they are being taught at an appropriate level. Back then, I don’t think that was happening.

Any other relevant info: By this stage, I thought the cane was unpleasant but not that bad, and so when the Headmaster overheard me asking somebody to leave with a form of words that involved swearing, and took me to his office, I was not incredibly worried. The first stroke of what was my first properly done caning came as a great shock – I could not believe anything could hurt that much. I thought something had gone wrong and I tried to tell the Headmaster this – tried to tell him he was caning me too hard. I was horrified when he told me that he knew exactly what he was doing and that if I didn’t bend over again, I’d get extra strokes and when I continued to argue, he pushed me back down and told me I was now getting three instead of the two he’d been planning on. After the third when he left me get back up, he told me very clearly that he knew exactly how much he’d hurt me and he could make it hurt even more and I should just try and imagine what six of the best felt like next time I thought about misbehaving.

When I was caught and the librarian told me she’d summoned the Headmaster, I was really scared. I was sure I was going to get six of the best. He took me to his office and he ripped into me – he gave me the scolding of my life before finally taking the cane out and telling me to lower my shorts. I asked him why, and he told me it was because he was going to cane me across my underpants which was actually a tiny relief – I’d read Roald Dahl’s Boy and my immediate reaction to the instruction had been to think I was going to be caned on the bare bottom, especially given earlier experiences. Once I was bent over, he told me I was getting six of the best as I’d expected, and if I argued like I had last time, he’d cane my hands as well. I decided to do my best to be cooperative but it wasn’t easy. He was absolute enraged at me – at least I thought he was (as a teacher, I’ve learned the value of good fake anger) – the whole experience was very frightening as well as extremely painful.

In this case, rather angry with the Computer Studies teacher who’d caned me two days earlier, I tried to extract a measure of revenge by ensuring the DOS prompt of every computer in the computer classroom read “Mr (Jones) is a d**k strumming w****r” at the start of our next lesson. Somehow I honestly didn’t think he’d know who’d done it. He told me I was getting six of the best, which severely frightened me, but while it did hurt (especially as I’d only been caned two days before) he actually went fairly easily on me. I think he was more saving face than anything else – I’d publically tried to attack him, he couldn’t let that pass.

Any other relevant info: I was caught trying to steal the manual for a computer game from a local computer store (I never bought computer games – I was a pirate – but this game was hard to play without the manual). Knowing the school I went to, the shopowner knew the school would punish me much more than the police would have and contacted them. I was brought up before the Headmaster, expecting another six of the best, but he said that obviously wasn’t enough of a deterrent by itself, and told me I’d be caned in front of my form the following day. I was horrified but wasn’t in any position to argue. We had an assembly anyway, and I had to sit through it in the front row, before at the end being brought up onto the stage and told to pull my shorts down. My formmaster held down my hands while somebody else held onto my ankles, and the Headmaster really laid into me. I remember at the end, as I tried to fix my clothes properly, him telling my form that if any of them dared to tease me about what had happened, they’d be in serious trouble, and wondering why, if he cared, he’d just put me through that. He was as good as his word though – two boys who did try to tease me wound up getting six of the best each. Of course, they were popular boys, which made things even worse for me with the other boys.

The teacher decided I was bullying and to deal with it harshly because I was in a higher year – even though I was a year younger. It wasn’t six of the best, but it was six and I was angry about it. I’d actually been trying since the punishment from shoplifting, but this made me wonder why I should bother.

Any other relevant info: I’d been given a detention for messing around in music class and when it came around, I was told to tape up some audio cassettes so they could be recorded over. The teacher just assumed I knew how to do it – and so did I, I suppose which is why I didn’t ask. I spent an hour putting little pieces of sticky tape over the wrong part of the cassettes, meaning it would all have to be removed again and done correctly. The music teacher thought this was yet another example of me messing around and causing problems – she would not believe that somebody who knew their way around computers wouldn’t know their way around tape cassettes but I honestly didn’t know. She gave me three pretty heavy strokes and sent me crying. Fortunately I walked into a Prefect who made me talk to him and convinced me that if I went and saw the Headmaster I’d get a fair hearing.

Any other relevant info: The Federal Police turned up at the school with a warrant to search my locker and seize any relevant materials. This caused a bit of a stir. The Headmaster (acting as my legal guardian, I established later) was magnificent. He made it very clear to them that as I was only 12, he knew that they’d have to prove I knew what I’d done was serious and criminal, and he knew me well, and would make it very clear that while I was horribly naughty and mischievous at times, I wasn’t mature enough to understand any more than that. I rather objected to that and tried to speak and he frightened the hell out of me, by telling me to “Shut up, or I’ll shut you up properly.” He called a parent who was a Queens Counsel – the police worked out they were onto a loser, I think. End result was they agreed to let him deal with it. And he did with another six of the best. This time, he really didn’t seem angry, but it still worked well.
The people the police decided were the ‘ringleaders’ (not necessarily rightly, I think, although they were certainly more involved than I ever was – I think they kept me clear of the really heavy stuff) were all significantly older than me. Some did get locked up, others got suspended sentences. I’m not sure if I would have been charged or not if not for my Headmaster’s actions, I actually think they were more looking for evidence against others than really going after me. But at the time I was glad for the Headmaster’s intervention, and I really did start to turn over a new leaf. It was helped by the fact that there was some media coverage about what had been happening and it impressed other boys – especially the ‘hacking into NASA’ bit that the media loved (I never even knew that was happening, or I would have made a real nuisance of myself. I’m making myself sound less competent than I was, I think – I did get into a few places I shouldn’t have been able to and to those in the know these weren’t minor achievements – but everybody had heard of NASA).

I knew I wasn’t being a rebel, but I did feel the punishment was rather deserved. I wasn’t doing what I was told. Yes, I was scared but I knew I was supposed to try and do it anyway. What I didn’t understand was the difference between normal fear and an actual phobic terror which is what I had.

This time we were expected to climb to the roof of the gym on ropes and I just could not bring myself to do it. Again, it was seen as rebellion, and this time I was taking into the change rooms and given six of the cane, before being told to try again. I did, I managed to climb, but only halfway I looked down and froze. I couldn’t go up and I couldn’t go down, no matter how much the teacher yelled and threatened. Eventually I couldn’t hold on any longer, and fell – the teacher caught me before I hit the ground, and shook me. I threw up on him.
I had to see the Headmaster later who listened to what I had to say and told me from now on, any time I felt I was being unfairly punished I was to tell the teacher to send me to him. That I was ordered to do so, so they couldn’t hold it against me.

I was sent to the Headmaster – he’d left instructions for this to happen, who read me the riot act about the constant minor misbehaviour I was still engaged in, though I’d stopped the serious stuff. He told me that he had a duty to make sure I left school ready to be a proper human being, and so he’d decided that any time I broke any rule I should be sent to him and I’d get six of the best. Any rule. Any time. Things had to change, I had to follow the rules, and it was obvious anything less than six didn’t work – but six of the best seemed to. So I’d get that every time. And as an added incentive, as I was accelerated two years, if I still wasn’t ready at the end of the year, he’d keep me there another one. And another if needed.
Three years of six of the best everytime I put a foot wrong… I decided to behave. I never got caned again, and finished at the end of that year.

In England where I live, and indeed went to school, corporal punishment was legally practiced up until 1986. Therefore there would be no reason for the media to cover anything except the unusual.

Yes i got 6 of the Tawse on the hands a few times in a Scottish school.
What did this teach me appart from nothing and the fact it was always the same ones that issued 6 strokes when 1,2,or 3 would have done?
Only those who dished out 6 strokes with zeal, liked to do so and got a sexual thrill from it.

I was friendly with a former, single status Gym Master (Deceased) after i left school and he had a steady flow of Lads who visited him for private beatings in his large home, complete with punishment basement.He was sadistic to those Lads yet at the same time, very protective and kind to them.
He knew several other ex comrades from around the country who also enjoyed such activities.
Many of his ex Lads went to his Funeral so how`s that for respect of a true Sadist.He-HE.

Thanks Alison and Jenny for your posts. I was wondering if the relationship of CP administered to boys and girls was being reflected in this thread. However, although boys undoubtedly received more CP than girls, from my own experiences it still looked a little out of balance. In my own family both my mother and my mother-in-law received the cane, whereas my father and father-in-law did not. My mother received the cane on three separate occasions from the head at Thomas Alleynes High School in Uttoxeter. She was caned on the hand, and on the last occasion it broke one of her fingers. I share many of Jenny’s view regarding the fairness of CP, and that girls and boys should be treated alike. Caning girls on the hand is a very bad idea, and I very much doubt that my mothers injury was unique. Having experienced both do you have any views concerning caning girls on the hand Jenny?I don’t know what my mother-in-law did to deserve the cane… I daren’t ask her

Any other relevant info: The slippering aged 13 was only a token jesture, many boys also got whacked. The second slippering in junior school was by far the most serious but was well deserved.
