Hormones help a little but not much. A combination of Finasteride (Proscar or Propecia) a prescription-only drug, Regaine (OTC preparation) and Retin-A (script only) helps restore lost hair to the crown and vertex respectively. The latter two need to be applied daily.
Vaniqa is expensive and script only and available on the NHS but costly and only appropriate to reducing facial hair growth. Hormones have very little effect on reducing facial hair.
This is not an extensive analysis but a fair starter to the awful challenges of hair restoration to heads and removal to faces/neck and body, all of which costs a great deal more in the long run than having SRS and which cannot easily be funded on the NHS.
