With the increase in perfume outlets in the shopping centre I find it a lot easier to try them now.

Most outlets have the tester bottle.

just ask the assistant for something along the lines you want. i.e. “I’d like something that isn’t going to follow my partner down the street but at the same time I’ll know it’s there” or “something that suits a 55-year-old lady on a night out to dinner”.

The assistants normally come up with something suitable.

I perhaps got into the habit when buying for my ex and my daughter.

And you get to try a drop on your wrist – then see how many guys look at you while you’re in drab.
