“Well of course you are a girl,” said mum. “You should be pleased to attract the attention of a young man. Can I look now?”
“No mum, that would be awful and embarrassing for me,” I said. “Just leave it. It’s bad enough as it is. A lad fancying me and eyeing me up.”
“If you had worn that see-though top I think all the lads in the shopping centre would be starring at you non-stop,” said mum with a gentle laugh, trying to break the tension she could sense in my voice.
