That evening dad was out.
Mum took me up to her bedroom for a ‘lesson’ in putting on make-up.
“You’ll have to practice this and learn to do it every day as a young woman,” she said.
As the first brush strokes of foundation went on and mum helped me with some eye make-up and mascara, I really began to see myself transform in the mirror.
It was amazing and exciting all in one go.
I was being changed into a young woman in front of my eyes.
She began to put a comb through my hair and give me a much more feminine-looking hairdo, even though my hair was quite short.
