So I have been told I need to constantly use spf50 on my face due to currently having laser hair removal. During winter I can just use decent sunscreen under my makeup and all is good.
Going to get some holiday sunshine shortly. Will use hats and shade as much as I can. How do I top up sunscreen OVER my makeup to reapply? I am struggling to find any decent spf 50 foundations. Any tips or tricks I’m missing? I can’t be the only lady with this problem.
Also does using spf30 moisturiser plus spf20 foundation equal a total spf50 or does it not work like that?
Or am I worrying too much and just forget about it ? Laser clinic do keep stressing the no sunshine rules after and before sessions.
I use a moisturiser with SPF50, and then apply a foundation with SPF.
If it is really sunny, I also wear a sunhat, or a Tilley hat.
I don’t reapply during the day.
I have been undergoing laser and electrolysis for over a year now,, but also have some untreated skin cancer on my face, which was diagnosed a few years ago now, and should be sorted privately in the next few months.
I guess you would need a spray over makeup but not sure how it would work.
Boots own brand sunscreen… I think it’s called soltan, they do one specifically for the face thats 8hr wear.
I used the kids one last year and remember being quite impressed with it not feeling thick & greasy – and generally just absorbing well, so was planning on getting more this year & to try the facial one.
Also, for the 2nd question – pretty sure that spf doesn’t work that way.
You can get longer lasting sunscreens – they’re just not as common for some silly reason. I don’t ever use the ones you have to keep reapplying, it’s just not practical.
I used to always use P20 which gives 10hrs, but I didn’t particularly like that for my face, it’s also quite expensive. There’s one Wilkos sell, something like calypso for kids that I think is also 10hrs, but that was supper greasy.
I really liked the boots one and used that on my face last year with no issue, just the ordinary one for body… but I picked up the facial one yesterday as it’s Currently on offer.
I have been using Cetaphil (Daily Defence Moisturiser SPF 50+) (bought from Amazon) which has been good.
Then my wife suggested Eucerin (Sensitive Protect 50+).
After a couple of weeks of Eucerin my laser/electrolysis lady commented that I had quite quite a bit of colour in my skin, and was I using SPF.
So I have gone back to Cetaphil
Just checked my tubes and both Sunsense (daily face 50+) and Eucerin (Sensitive Protect 50+) say reapply,
Cataphil doesn’t, and seems to work better for me.
