The point of waxing as opposed to shaving is that the hair growing back has a fine tip to it rather than the coarse cut tip following shaving.

The hair is attached not just by the root but by a muscle (arrestor pili muscle) this helps to erect the hair (as dogs and cats do when they become stimulated) this is part of our past when we needed to defend ourselves.

This muscle along with the root is surrounded by nerve endings and so hurts when pulled.

I cannot think of anything which doesn’t involve expense and which gives immediate or even short-term effect.

If it did for you then that’s great but for most, it has little visible effect within a few months.

Body hair is slightly less aggressive (the legs for example are only 60 per square centimetre).
