punishment out side of school.

sometime during the early 70’s.i witnessed a caning of four boys,outside dulwich swimming baths.i had just come out from my swim when the boys went to unchain thier bikes,which were in the rack near by.a female school teacher appeared carrying a cane.i stopped to watch the situation.the teacher told the boys off for having their bikes at the swimming baths.then she saw me watching,and ordered me to look away. i started to walk off ,but stopped when she turned her back to me. she then ordered each boy to empty his back pockets,and bend over a low wall. she gave three of the boys three hard strokes of the cane. the fourth boy got four strokes. most of the the boys were crying afterwards.the teacher then turned,and saw me watching.she started to tell me off.she looked as if she was going to cane me as well.as i had left school afew years before i just told her where to go. i thought it quite odd that a school teacher could cane her pupils in such a public place, away from the school. the boys were from thomas carlton school, and i later learned that the teacher was named miss waite.she was a head of year. has any one ever heard of her,or perhaps seen this type of public caning. thank you
