My first couple of years at school were uneventful. at Cranhill, CP was used but only after all other steps had been taken. Parents were always notified if their son or daughter had earned a punishment appointment. Cranhill was mostley staffed by women, Mrs Ruth Mackenzie was our head. with Miss Robertson and Mrs Forbes her two deputies. we used to have a merits and de-merits system. similar to the awarding of a star routine. with one difference. three DM’s=one Black Mark and three BM’s= 1hotbot.
We were also awarded merits as well. a certain number of those and you would receive a class certificate. if you achieved two or more certificates. the head would call you out in assembly and give you an envelope containing a record or book token.
