Did the run-up thing ever actually happen? I would have thought it would be very hard to do as you would have had to time it just right. It’s a favourite in spanking fiction of course and as I recall in the film “If”. Would it make much difference anyway in terms of pain inflicted? The speed of a cane hitting a bottom hard would be far greater than anyone could achieve by running, so the speed of impact wouldn’t be much greater. Plus if you got it wrong you could do a great deal of damage with inaccurate strokes hitting the tail bone, but I guess it would be less likely to happen with a slipper as in this case, simply because it’s much shorter.
