Interesting ideological slant on the article…but one doesn’t know how to react. Certainly, Prof. Lewis isn’t going on my Christmas Card list. I wonder how many times he has stood in front of a class of kids set on disrupting the learning process? He’s just about taken every control mechanism in the armory ( doubtless he’d say ideologically loaded language) away from teachers. Even in university, I wonder how without even the fallback of sarcasm I would, particularly in the early years have remained unscathed when lecturing unwilling would be undergraduate Accountants about the ‘political and social environment’
In university a new lecturer goes in with a clean sheet, wanting to score a win on every encounter, but soon comes away realising a ‘score draw’ is quite commendable in some classes. In others , the dross the newbie always ‘inherits’ , it is acceptable to come away with anything but a whitewash! In school I found it worse.
