It would be totally wrong to use CP in her view for academic failure. If you have trouble ask for help, but to use the cane would be to frighten some …detention was another matter, in that either it made you resolve to work, or to ask for help……You could of course not turn up , then I would be caned, but she argued she couldn’t see me doing that because that would be acting as a bad citizen which was totally different from what I had done……….Didn’t then .. but today I would share her opinion.
Secondly, I do not believe in a modern regime that corporal punishment should be a singular punishment.
