I don’t think any punishment system is going to be able to cater for it completely, but I would not want the assumption made that you can’t do this to boys or girls because they are that sex.
I’m personally wary of Doc’s bete noire-if it’s good for girls, then it must be good for all pupils. The strange thing being it usually comes from men who feel they have to make amends for years of women being assigned a second-class status by treating their fellow men as a sub-class.
Bit like the TV ads-you know the sort-where men are seen to be congenitally useless, where once in adverts women’s prime role in life was to ensure Hubby came home to a clean home, quiet kids and a supper bathed in Oxo gravy(even if supper was a tuna niceoise salad!).
