Given these a priori statements are integral to my position , I am then left with some severe difficulties. I’m not going at this stage to outline my views fully.Rather i will attempt to look here at the different types of sanction in common use in school , excluding corporal punishment to attempt to elicit views on the desirability or otherwise of these, and problems manifest within them.

First of all lets consider non punishment approaches, so called positive discipline. A system which replaces sanctions with incentives. Some versions have loss of reward also within them .
