generally , on a percentage scale boys are about 15 points less likely to respond to non verbal cues as girls. FACT. But that doesn’t mean that boys don’t respond and girls don’t ….it just has an impact on the effectiveness of a certain type of ‘sanction’ in two communities. SOME boys respond as well as the MAJORITY of girls to this type of message, and SOME girls are as unaware as MANY boys.
Unfortunately this complicates the whole arena of education horribly, and , as I say particularly when the individuals with whom there are reasons perhaps to be concerned….at the edge of distribution of IQ : mental activity : oppositional tendencies, happen to largely be those who are what a positivist might define as an exhibiting aberrant characteristics (compared to the norm).
That’s why I’m beginning to wonder if there isn’t some mileage in accepting that not all kids are best served by school alone or at all : education yes : schooling , well that might have to be qualified! Maybe Ivan Illich (Deschooling society) had something going for him after all.
