There were two main caning sessions at my high school. The first was straight after morning assembly and the second during the latter half of the lunch break. There were also some urgent canings in between. Most of the canings occurred in the principal’s office, either administered by the principal or by the teacher with the principal as a witness.
The principal’s office was adjacent to the quadrangle and rose garden and had windows on that side. Canings could clearly be heard from outside: CRACK!!! CRACK!!!, etc. The top part of the cane’s trajectory could be seen from part of the garden. The rose garden was the girls domain and was where girls ate their lunches.
