I don’t recall any kid at my primary getting whacked with their Dad or Mum there.
Parents weren’t all over the schools like a rash in those days.
Apart from the Mums, and occasionally Dads, who helped out changing the kids for swimming lessons,and the Mums who volunteered for the ‘tuck-shop’,you didn’t see parents around the school very much.
Parents might take their kids to school in the infants grades,but generally left them at the school gates.
Older kids walked, rode their bikes or got the bus.
They weren’t all chauffeured to and from school in cars as they are now.
