The actions were begun in May last and shortly afterwards a series of articles appeared in the Camberwell Post, of which the plaintiff complained. An application for a rule nisi against Mr. Conolly was made during last summer term, and it then appeared that the writ in the action against Mr. Conolly and his paper was issued on May 23 and that in the paper published on the following day serious allegations were made against Dr. Keats. It was upon the statements in that issue of the paper that the first application for a rule nisi was made. The newspaper was published at 4 a.m., and the writ was served at midday on that day, the paper coming out for sale in the afternoon.
