Mr. McCall, K.C., Mr. A. Neilson, and Mr. W. R. Briggs appeared for the plaintiff; and the defendants appeared in person.

The defendant, Mrs. Bracey-Wright was further cross-examined to-day by Mr. MCCALL. At the conclusion of her cross-examination Mr. JUSTICE SCRUTTON asked the witness whether if, as one of the nurses said, the boy Chase had sworn at her, struck her, and spat at her three times he ought, in her opinion, to be corrected.

The witness said he ought to be corrected, but she would not dare to resort to corporal punishment.

Re-examined by Mr. Bracey-Wright.- You said that you had had a large family?- I have had nine children.

What method did you use to correct your family when they needed it?- I brought up four son without corporal punishment, as you are a witness.
