In the 1950’s I am pretty certain that my three brothers and I experienced the receiving end of Mr. Wildmans wares on very numerous occasions.
I clearly remember my father mail ordering his canes from a school punishment cane supplier in London and who I am pretty certain was Mr. Wildman. They were intimidating crooked handle instruments and viciously pliant and hard wearing. I don’t think that my father ever broke one of his canes and they were in very regular use on us four boy’s and subjected to plenty of fair wear and tear. Our underpants wore out long before his canes!
He must have been feared by many of us school boys at that time.
