I attended a strict Boys Grammar School from 1965 – 1973. The Headmaster held his position from 1958 to 1978.He was always hot tempered and impatient – apparently particularly so ,in his early years though by the time I arrive in September 1965 he had cooled down a bit.
I distinctly recall a conversation between my mother and a neighbour who had a son in the sixth form.This was early 1962. The Headmaster punished a boy so severely that his legs were made to bleed. Even he recognized he had gone too far and proceeded to apologise to the boy’s parents.
