For me, the worst cane I felt was one that was thin compared to yours, about 9mm thick, but dense and not very flexible. I think it was about 45 grams. The sting was particularly sharp compared to thicker canes and it seemed to bite much deeper into your backside than lighter thinner ones.
I have been left with a love (addiction?) to the cane – both giving and receiving. I received it myself, both from my step parents, and at a brutal boarding school. Little by little I found the pain was mingled with a sort of ecstatic pleasure.
