From junior school I was fortunate enough to pass the then eleven-plus examination with sufficiently high marks to win a scholarship to a public day school for boys, where I had my secondary education. As far as I can judge in your view this makes me automatically deny that girls received corporal punishment at ordinary secondary schools. Wrong, I’m afraid!

I’m pretty sure that girls in ordinary secondary schools and indeed in any other type of school you care to name in England (the England bit is important later, so please note it) received corporal punishment for long as it was legal, if their school used it. What I don’t believe is that they received it as often as boys.
