Understand the political philosophy that created the mixed secondary modern. A form of Fabian socialism predicated on the idea that boys and girls largely deserve the same treatment. Females went from the ‘delicate flowers’ of the Victorian age, to ‘Rosie the riveter’ of the revolution of the ‘working class’. As I pointed out with the American analogy, how this new world of education ended up being interpreted depended on the cultural background of the district. The funny thing is, if you stray from the ‘fetish’ sites like this, and do some more general research, the truth isn’t exactly hidden.

And where on earth did this CP of girls more often than boys come from? I really must re-read my original post. By ‘paradise’ I meant that CP of girls would be expected to be vanishing low, but that this particular type of school (just like with their equivalents in modern-day USA) grow their rates of female CP to quite shocking levels, all things considered.
